The aspect of the ShepardA Story by 23rdstarOur
kind came commanded by the goddess herself to defend them and see their
young through the gates. We asked nothing but came bade by her call for
mercy and balance. The light of a million silver moons shining on our
shields and helms, fierce wolves come across fields of stars and
nothingness, through the elsewhen. The drinkers of blood had won a world
and hunted the living through the nights to farm them for their lives,
breaking the great balance. The
Forester blew his strident horn, and the little goddess knelt down to
pray to her own mother who is without form. We came on two legs and
sometimes on four. Armoured and graceful as the winds that blow the
elder ships between their worlds. We are the children who play in the
fields of the sun, and sing under the eyes of a million moons and stars,
children of fur, claw and tooth. Fleet of foot and strong in our will
that we have claimed again a place among the free people. The
drinkers of blood came against us and both we and they fell in battles
and wars. We stood among fields of fire, and among the burning hells
that they sent swarming down upon us. We guided the children of the
Shepard from there beseiged worlds and homes to find solice and care
among the sisters of the goddess. Our
love for each other, the respect of the Forester, and the knowledge of
the goddess reached out to save their children and raise them among the
fleets, packs, and elder worlds where balance reigns. The
aspect of the Shepard rings thoughout the children we saved from the
grim harvest that would have snuffed out the living humans of that
world. Among them the cub of the alphas learn his ways, the children of
men still live and breath, clasping paws with the brothers and sisters
of the grand packs. © 2010 23rdstar |
