Crowes in flight...A Story by 23rdstarA bit of a fictional journal about the land of Elsewhere in it's modern times...We watched them as they flew along beside our aircraft for a while, as if running escort duty for the passenger liner. Neither getting to close to us, but staying within some 50 meters or so. The rest of the passengers yammered among themselves about the sight of the two lone figures in black, long coats flying out behind them, a bow wave of golden white force before each, and their demin masks topped by flyers goggles. I looked out the window and turned up my mp3 player to top volume to drown out the sounds of everyone on else in the main cabin, then drew up my fingerless gloves to cover the patterns that ran loops and curves around the backs of my hands. I waved to the pair from my window seat not sure that they would be able to see my motion through the thick and stained plastic window. It seemed that they did though. For in my mind I saw the Evenstar glow for a moment and then fade. The sign of the newly formed and defended worlds over which the nameless among others now stood fast. We had learned through the hard times of poverty, battle, anger, and death that love will not win the day alone. That we ourselves must sometimes stand as judges, jury, and be willing to excute our judgements without remorse or regret. Not only for ourselves, but for our familes, loved ones, and those that cannot know, nor will ever know who stand in the now unknown future of these places. © 2010 23rdstar |
