old one too + it has coffee!

"

you told me I would lose myself
drown in the hum of this busy life
blindly following the senses
and bright lights
like a moth,
a fish, a hungry beast
a ghost with a tiny throut
and a flaming mouth
you told me I’d be eaten
by those of my kind
scorched in neon lights
drown in the foam on top of my coffee
and it all makes sense
in the right light
the dimmed one
because the only bright light
is reserved for death
cutting through a tainted soul
burning what needs to be burned
and what is left
can finally stagger to the gates
of salvation, of eternal light
to be judged, again
and you told me
I would be torn in pieces
for my treachery
for trying to please
the demons of vanity,
of gluttony
of giving in
to the brighter lights
and still failing
in both worlds
wandering as a ghost
between them
you told me
that’s what I deserve
for the betrayal written on my sou
