A plant's heart

A plant's heart

A Poem by Olivia Danielle
"

If you like this, I suggest reading my short story Fix Me! This is about our society that seems to value looks over everything else.

"

I measure

I eat too much

Then too little

If my heart is full with happiness

It’s too big

Everything needs to shrink

But then it needs to grow

A plant whose flowers get cut off

Before they bloom fully

You say I should love myself

Every space and every crease

Because I’m beautiful

You telling me that

Makes me shrivel up

Am I just a body to you

Eyes with no emotion

If I open my mouth to speak

Should I close it because it makes my lips look better

If my whole being

My soul and my essence

Were to disappear

Would you notice or care

But if my weight were to go up or down

You would notice and care

My branches splinter

My leaves crack and fall

But I’m still a plant

You see something rotting

That needs to be removed from your forest

My hope is to find someone

Who encourages me to speak

Who would not notice

If my weight were to go up or down

They would notice if one day

My heart didn’t seem as open as normal

I would bloom for them

There is other opinion to think, if the person really love you, they will force you to speak in reality, to face the true you, if you don't face yourself in real time how can you forgive yourself. How you give chance to others to forgive you

That is very, very true. Thank you for reviewing!
An utterly painful and true poem, with it all mixed in to be a wonderful, relatable poem. The feeling of ups and downs here is so palpable. I love the ending, of wondering if you'll ever find someone who'll accept you as you are, and I certainly believe it's true, that everyone that wants it, will find their happy ending. I absolutely adore this poem, in its relatability, hopefulness, and even sadness. Perhaps my favorite of yours, and for sure going in my favorites!

an unconditional love towards someone is generously portrayed via such picturized words.

ps.
looking forward to reading your 'Fix Me' story. Seems, it would be relatable to/with 'A Plant's Heart'.
