Quiet WindA Poem by Carl ThomasFirst Published in 1994 by Poetry Now, Wales Anthology (Edited by Veronica Hannon)
One soul's absorption
Into the brain -- One soul's surrender To the everlasting rain. 10:35pm His mind fluctuates With incredible speed And seems to burn With proportional need. 10:40 His fingers twitch Their reactional stimulus, His eyeballs rove Their memory limitless. 10:45 As cool as an iceberg, With its elemental surge, His mind fights Every possible urge. 11:00pm His mind falls Slow But sure -- Until it seems To fall no more. 11:05 He sits in his armchair, Without a care -- All around His dark gloomy lair. 11:15pm As dark as the fire is bright, Step into the darkened Night -- Step into its Spiritual flight. © 2011 Carl Thomas |
