Pothole

Pothole

A Poem by Carmen Williams
"

prompt was to write a paradise poem. My version of paradise is a bit different from what most people wrote :) Name taken from the Modern Baseball song (writers workshop 2021 poem 4)

"

Rain hits roads as bricks soak

Water in through gaps

Water into the

Gaps of my mind

Washing me away

Lamplight dances

Moving in sync with the trees

They’re listening to a song

I can’t hear

Or maybe I can

It's a song played on empty streets

The wind sings bitterly

The rain keeping the beat

My footsteps adding to the sound

Separate but not alone
