Black Blood

Black Blood

A Poem by Jazmine Knight

Red blood flows through their arteries and veins
But it quickly turns black as people age
Black from years of experience and pains
Black from years of sorrows, sadness and rage
Innocence and purity slowly dies
People lose grace and life as they grow old
Hearts grow heavy with all bluffs and all lies
And throughout all the ages hearts grow cold
Life is a song with a sour, wrong chord
Life is a game where only few can win
Left on the street with nothing like a sword
You are not alone, everyone has sin
From a dark heart blooms a single rose bud
As written in my very own black blood
