Acidic SnowA Poem by Jazmine KnightHere in the northeast we got hit pretty bad with Sandy. To make matter worse a Northeaster came through that brought a snow storm.Im fortunate enough to have power but I keep thinking of those w/o heatSnow falls from the sky Soft and light Brings cheer to little kids Their faces grow bright But not today The white turns green Snow becomes acidic Dark and unseen But the color doesn't change We know it does not But it infiltrates houses It finds cracks and rot Those with no power In thirty-two and below Left with no house Shivering in the snow You caused the damage yourself Dear old Mother Nature Your high hurricane winds Causing dams' failure Flooding and wreckage And now snow Sandy, why must you pack This hard a blow © 2012 Jazmine Knight |
