A New Year

A New Year

A Poem by Marianne

A New Year is here

new dreams, opportunities and possibilities

new loves, shoes, fashion and jewellery

new holidays, horizons and happenings

more wrinkles

more pain

less power

less fame

The journey begins

a new end in sight

roads to cross over

and nowhere to stop

inside this ferris wheel

A NEW year ? What's NEW ?

And WHY ?

Wisdom answered

my mind to console ~

"Man does not live by bread alone

but on every word that comes from the mouth of God".

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path".

"How sweet are your words to my taste,

sweeter than honey to my mouth".

I pause my heart,

unwind my mind,

my eyes scan the truth

I hope to find

I lay my burden at the foot of His cross

inhale His love, mercy and grace

the new year takes on a new face

I'm ready now to start the race

May wisdom have it's way

throughout the new year

filled with joy and peace

in new life day by day

A religious poem that fills people with new hope about the coming year. This poem is a great demonstration about how religion can be a great thing within a person's heart. You did an amazing job convey your point to your reader. Even if I'm not religious, I did find it very inspiring. There was a line that confused me a little. The line that reads, ""Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path"." Is word suppose to be word or world. I think world would fit better into the poem. That's my only suggestion.

I hope you are feeling better now, Marianne...

This is wisdom in your hand, and love in your heart, and skill in your pen stroked mind... may the new year continue to bring you such creativity, thoughtfulness, and introspection and bring light to cast out every shadow... hugs

You lift us all with your words.. yes... it is not simply a random new year, but one blessed by God. May yours be filled with joy and peace, my friend! (So hope that you're feeling all better now.. or as close to it as possible.)

Wishing you well, dear friend and stressing - though, gently, how beautifully written your poem is .. it's true inspiration.

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path".

How true those words are .. thank you for reminding me, us ..

So sorry the new year finds you ill, honey.

Your heart shines in everything you write, Marianne. You are never afraid to express yourself, and that is a gift. Many are afraid to show a weakness, a doubt, or even their faith. You are a light in the darkness of the world! Get well soon!
