The Meaning of FireA Poem by Marcelles D. RaynesA poem about...Power is something drawn from a Kindled Fire The strength of the Fire that burns within Us varies Some burn with the brilliance of one thousand suns And some burn with the fuel from our greatest desire Our Flame is one thing we shall always carry Even after we leave this world and escape to the next one Sometimes that Fire within us dwindles and fades And sometimes We think Our Fire will completely burn out Those are the darkest times in our lives But our Fire will naturally burn forever, for that is how it was made It will never go dull, no matter how great the doubt The Flame will burn forever if we have the drive To extinguish the Flame is to destroy one’s very being If life gets too rough, this may seem like a sane thing to do But no matter what happens, that Fire must keep burning It is only the Smoke that prevents one from properly seeing The Smoke from a Flame that glows brighter than I or You But those with this type of Flame will continue their yearning Our time runs thin, our lives are ephemeral at best One day our Flame will be passed down, and with it, so shall We The Fire will forever burn so long as one of us remains here Forever it burns as if this were a test And the creation of Fire will never cease to be And the Ashes of old Flames shall never truly disappear For the end is never truly the end, it is simply a new beginning, a new start From the memories of the new Flames, the old ones shall never depart -Marcelles D.
