The TruthsA Poem by 1DisawsumWe all lie, and we all believe someone else's words. What we don't know is how well others can lie straight to your face.
What are they? You ask me.
I turn away, hurriedly searching For an answer, any answer, Other than the truth. They're just scratches that I made, When I got angry yesterday, Nothing that you should worry about. They're just scratches I made. What are all those bruises? Oh, I got in a car wreck in the weekends, No big damage, just lots of bruising. Nothing that you should worry about. Why are you shivering, it's summer! Oh, I just have a fever, that's all. Nothing that you should worry about, I just have a cold fever. Why are your eyes so red, did you sleep? Yes I did, just not well. I don't need To go see a doctor, I'm fine, I'm fine, Nothing that you should worry about. So much hair is on your jumper, and so less hair on you. Oh, I just brushed my hair real hard this morning, That's all. Nothing that you should worry about. And you're getting so thin, what's happening? Thankyou miss, I was hoping someone would notice. Oh nothing, I just wore more flattering clothes today. That's all, nothing that you should worry about. You're so sad today, and every other day. Oh yes, we have some family issues right now, I'm sure my parents would ring you soon. Nothing that you should worry about. Your grades are slipping, don't tell me That I shouldn't worry about that, please! Oh yes, family issues, my parents wouldn't mind. They'll tell you why, sooner or later. What she doesn't know, wouldn't kill er, It wouldn't kill her like it's killing me now. It wouldn't hurt her if she didn't know the truth, It wouldn't affect her they way it does me. The lies we all make, The web we create, The hurt and pain and worry we cause, What does it all amount to?
