What They SayA Poem by 1DisawsumThe past does not define Who you are as a person now, But when I think about it, is it really, all that true? The past changes you To be the person you are now. Your personality and view of life, Isn't that from what happened in your past? The past is in the past, That's what they all say to me. But memories are still here, Fresh alive in my brain. The past is in the past, And we can't do anything now, To change the past. And that's what's the worst. Making mistakes does not mean, That you are a failure in life. Making mistakes is just part of, Being a human, isn't it? But when you make, One too many mistakes, What happens then? Do you become a failure? The media has so many affects On everyday humans, we strive To become, what we ultimately Cannot become. That's the worst in this world, Isn't it? To strive for such a goal, That will ultimately kill you, And leave you with a hole. We strive to be Victoria Secret models, But many do not realise, that nobody Is as thin as it shows us, on the magazines. Nobody can ever be that thin. They say to be happy with who you are, But how can we, when the media Tells us otherwise? They portray other humans As such thin, elegant people, how can we be happy? The diets, th painkillers, the bingeing and sadness. Ana, Mia, depression and Sue. How can we truly accept ourselves for who We really are, deep inside the demons? The demons that consume our living being, The demons not willing to let ourselves go, The demons not willing to let go,and so we do. I guess nothing is ever enough. The past does not define you, The past is in the past. Making mistakes does not say you are a failure, And being thin is a person's goal. All of these sayings are mistakes, Mistakes created in the past, Mistakes that we all now believe, And we kill ourselves over, trying to be, What we ultimately, cannot be.
