Daddy, you've hit me
So many times, I'm starting to think The bruises are here to stay. Mummy, why do you stand there And cry your heart out? Why do you just watch, And not help me? Mummy, I thought you were my Mummy! I thought mummies would be caring And loving, but maybe my mummy Is different. Daddy, stop! That hurts! I'm bleeding, can't you see? Daddy, stop hitting me! I'm crying, OW! That really hurts. Daddy, why do you hit me? Daddy, can't you hear me scream? Mummy, come and save me please! I need to get away from this monster! Mummy, I saw your bruises today, After I came home from school. I asked you where you got them from, All you did was kiss me and say 'Shh." Mummy, who might hear? It was only us two alone in the house, Mummy, who could hear? I need an answer, I'm getting scared now! Mummy, was it Daddy who hit you? Was it really him? Was he the monster you kept on Talking about? But how could he be, He's never under my bed or in the closet! I thought that monsters were only Hidden underneath my bed, And in the closet at night, That's what you told me Mummy! But now I know, That monsters can be anywhere. Right here is a monster, My daddy hitting us, never stopping. But although he is a monster, I will always love him.
