Words Hurt.

Who am I anymore?
Do I even know now?

I've been called worthless,

But what I want to know is, how?

What have I done to deserve these names?

It pains me to hear it, but is it true?

They've called me names before,

Am I what they call me too?

I hate to live my life like this,

In complete and utter fear.

I wish I was more confident,

Maybe then, I'd still be here.

But I can't go back now,

What's done, is done.

All I can do now, is hope,

That the words they say don't stun.

I'd highly doubt they would,

What possibly could be worse?

I've been kicked and I've been bruised,

I guess I'm in a curse.

I can't do anything about it now,

It's been on for way too long.

I just hope that by the time they've done,

I'll be gone, the last I'll hear, a crying song.

Author's Note

A crying song (last line, last stanza) is referring to the bullies who were themselves, bullied into bullying the victim in this poem. The last the victim will hear before her death is to hear the 'bullied bullies' crying for their loss, and wishing that it never had happened.
Not great at rhyming, please forgive me! What did you think?

I like the topic and the message. It is truly sad how many teens (matter of fact PEOPLE) are bullied every single day. We are living in such a cruel world. It breaks my heart to see and hear the things that people are capable of doing/saying. Humans are turning into monsters. Monsters that destroy others' lives. I love the flow of this poem. Not everything has to rhyme. You can free rhyme and choose whichever you want to do. That is the beauty of change in the writing world. No one is worthless! No one is better than anyone else. We were born into this world equally. The only reason why we don't get treated equally is not God's fault. It is humanity tearing us all apart. You are right though. Words do hurt. I wouldn't say I have been bullied before. I stand my grounds and make sure no one bullies anyone. I am one of those girls at school that is kind to everyone and is likable. I roll my eyes at the popular kids because they think they sit on a gold throne when in reality they are on top of a garbage can to me. We, as the normal people, are the true beauties of the world. Thankyou, I chose this topic to write about as a means of crying for help for those who can't do it themselves, and as a way of expressing myself, about how personally feel about this. Yes, it is truly sad, and also tragically sad for those who are abused by their own parents. Yes, we are living in a cruel world, and yes, humans are very capable of hurting other humans and living organisms. Nothing is ever really fair in life, if you think about it. Yes, that's true, not everything has to rhyme, but I thought I might change my style a little, from time to time, and spice it up a little. Most of my poems are free verse poems, but from a suggestion from one of my reviewers, I thought I'd change it up a little, and see how it goes!
Yes, so true. We were all born as equals, but nobody sees that. Our thinking changes over time, and if being called worthless so many times in one day in your life, you will start to believe it. As it is said to you so many times in your life.
It is in fact, humanity tearing us all apart. Us humans have done all the work ourselves, but the reason why some people think it is God's fault, or their religious god's fault, is so that they can have somebody to blame. They are denying the fact, and therefore not seeing the real truth, as to who is doing the damage. Ourselves. Humans.
That's good, I'm glad there is somebody in this world who cares for themselves and for others. If only there were more people like you.
Aha "On top of a garbage can..." that's the funniest line I've heard from anybody! Loving it, and it's true, isn't it, if you think about it properly. They aren't cool or whatever they think they are. Everybody just follows the status quo, because we are all afraid if we don't.

I truly enjoyed this. It really made me feel sorry for the person who is being bullied. It's unfair really, that some people are bullied and they get depressed. It's a vicious cycle where the ones being bullied get filled with rage and the bully others in turn. A really clear idea projected with true feelings.
