Dead Roses Like Me

Dead Roses Like Me

A Poem by Chanel
"

I wrote ‘Dead Roses Like Me’ on a rainy day as I sat at my window staring at a dead rose, feeling similar.

"
Those dead roses sat in my window reminding me of myself
still beautiful, still whole,
but more delicate than ever
one more rough touch
and we’ll crumble forever
those dead roses sat in my window
reminding me that it’s my fault they’re dead still beautiful, but dull,
still whole, but with their heads hanging
those dead roses sat in my window
as I apologized for not watering them
I apologized for not providing enough light
I apologized for not speaking enough positivity into them
those dead roses sat in my window
because I felt guilty
