Cake

Cake

A Poem by 19hula

It’s like… cake.

Imagine that you’re really hungry,

And all you can think about is cake.

Like a great big chocolate cake.

One day you finally see this cake that you’ve been dreaming about.

But you can’t eat it. It’s out of reach somehow.

Then it gets worse.

You see someone eating the cake in front of you.

Slice by slice.

Really slowly and sloppily.

They eat the cake in such a disgusting way that by the time they’ve finished

not only do you not want what’s left on the plate,

but you are put off cake forever.

Cake becomes the last thing you want in the world.

Then imagine still being hungry.

Just not wanting cake.

Maybe a gluten-free brownie or something.
