A Story by Rosie

Asian vs. American
Living as a Asian is not what everyone expects. We are not all the smartest learners, nor are we all the best. But whether we are the best and the brightest, or the trouble makers; what distinguishes us from what Americans?
From my experience, I have dealt with many situations where I have felt different from everyone else. It almost made me feel segregated from my peers. This is  a sensitive topic for me. I was the girl in my family who was very sentimental towards others. I would easily cry for no reason and my heart was quite fragile. It seems my whole life had been revolved around trying to get what I want even though I can not have it. There are a few points about what distinguishes Asian parents and Americans.
Let's start with how we grew up. Our mind works very differently. No matter who we are, our minds are driven by perseverance. It hard to have a mind that works like that but our parents taught us to exceed our studies. I think that Asians are put in a uncomfortable situation where they have to work hard in order to achieve. Another factor contributing to why we work hard is because of others. There are many well known Asians out there. In fact there are too many to even distinguish who's who. Because we are set in such standard, we have an whole army routing for us to do well.
