The Beautiful DeathA Poem by Commissioner MartinezFree-verse
As the sun retracted behind the darkened horizon, the dimming light enveloped each fine grain of sand on the empty beach and rebounded more brightly off every minuscule ripple of water the vast ocean provided for the living.
In an instant of sheer magnificence, each single ray of light, rebounding in the opposite direction of reflective surfaces and substances, congregated together and procured a heavenly sunset to which the very few on the beach stood in awe. In this moment of wonder, the thought became apparent that the sun was not retreating in such a way as to leave the opposite of admiration, but the dying light left in a manner as to signal its beautiful death.
