Trance

A Poem by QuantumPlateShone
"

This is a Tanka-a Japanese style of poetry much like a haiku. It's syllable pattern is 5-7-5-7-7 (which I break a few times), with 5 stanzas.

"

Swift waves pound the sand

Cool water touches my toes

Breathing in deeply

How is it so beautiful?

Glorious peace has come

Scents of salt follow me

A magical seaweed perfume

Churning unrestful

Poseidon would be envious

The ambiance clutches me

Luna peers down from the clouds

Shafts of moonlight bounce about

Charismatic presence

It beacons enticingly

Is it more serene up there?

There is a glow far off

It’s the lighthouse in the distance

Am I Gatsby,

Longing to attain my dreams?

But I shall obtain mine!

Wind conjures my thoughts

My heartbeat syncs with the lapping

Imagination

Eyes closed, memory spurred

This is the music of the mind
