            I am very mature for my age. I have naïve problems and worries but my actions are mature definitely when it comes to my church. Do not get me wrong this is not a preaching session. This is just who I am. Three years ago when I was confirmed in my church my confirm mentor, of whom is a lady in her late sixties and who I am still good friends with, introduced me to my main group of church ladies. The group is the UMW, or the united Methodist women. I am now the youngest member, possibly the only member under the age of thirty. In UMW it’s like having 35 grandmas, which is an awesome feeling, but they are grandma’s that include you. I have been to seven UMW events and I have sung in the UMW women’s choir and read scripture on UMW Sunday. At every event I serve food, give the speaker a tour of our church, and decorate. You could argue that I’m one of the more active group members. But I will not because I have nothing against our awesome president Susan who is paralyzed from the waist down and still runs our organization like a pro. I love this group of women and they love me. I believe the best feeling in the world is when people from other Methodist women groups tell you how proud they are that you have the maturity level to involve yourself in your church organizations despite your age. And I love when the storyteller bases her story around me at the Christmas tea because I inspired her with my passion for my group when we talked. Every young woman should have an elderly friend, I have thirty of them, and they are great company. I may not be fully-grown and matured yet, but this group has helped me so very much and I just wanted to write a little shout out to it and all that it means to me. United Methodist women, forever.
