Paradox of War

Paradox of War

A Poem by Luciferette

Paradox of War

white walls washed in

   endless ever-flowing crimson

this once pretty paradise

  scarred with sacrifice

they say it is a nasty necessary in war

    the loss of innocents

                               so then why?

                                     the torment, tearing clawing

             screaming

       whirling on and on

                                      dragging me down and down

but I am a warrior

    I live for this

                              I am this

  so then why?

even in the sluggish depths rest

eyes that should be staring forevermore into the blank abyss

                turn toward me instead

this is me

the me I always wanted to be

       aspired to be

                       Dreamed to be

            So then why?

Is all that I can do is run the other way
