Small Town, Dark Secret

Fictional small-town murder story, starting a little after said murder.

Story is set in a small town called Wolf Creek, where a murder has been committed already. Lydia Hill, a pretty, shy, popular girl, was found drowned in the town's lake after a party gone bad. Immediately all suspicion has gone to Tobias Fairchild, local freak of nature, who was seen the day before arguing with the victim. Everyone thinks---no, believes, that he killed Lydia, but there is no evidence to prove the fact.

Is it because he's really good at fooling everyone, including the main character...or because he really didn't do anything? 

If that's the truth....who killed  Lydia?
