Good bye to the old me

Good bye to the old me

A Chapter by Ashley.M.E

What every happened to the person I used to be

I used to seem so happy

Used to smile without a care

I cannot do that anymore

All I get are these tears

Are my emotions that broken

That there is no light anymore

All I want is the old me back

The one who made me who I once way

That happy care free soul

Who could smile and laugh

To nothing

I don’t blame anymore

There is no one to blame by myself

My heart had gone black

I know it

I cannot go back though

I seem to want to cry

Over nothing

The tears will not seem to flow

I am not the child I once was

I am not the person everyone loved

I deserve to be hated

I am not that person

Same look, same name

But I am not her

I don’t deserve the same treatment at her

Because for all I know I ate her

I took her

I made her dark

I made her me

And who am I

Nobody

So I have to say good bye

To the old me.

A strong poem written with powerful words!

This poem reminds me of me except I have no self esteem instead of low so I don't hate myself. I struggle to think of my good points and I expect people to think bad of me and I put myself down. I used to be a person who never cared what anyone thought of me doing the things that people disliked who would laugh and joke everyday.

I liked the poem up to the point where it said "I deserve to be hated". I remember when I used to think that about myself. That's something that people with low self esteem say because they feel responsible for the bad things that happen in their life and the things they miss out on. They feel that things are their fault.

Everybody changes
Everybody evolves
Everybody has times in their lives when they leave the past behind and step towards a new understanding of themselves.
For sure these times are scary, nervewracking and one often just wants to go and hide in a closet and pull out there hair.
But in life, these times are just stepping stones into becoming something more than you were before. Like a pendulum people swing from light to dark, positive to negative throughout their lives. Each time that swing occurs, they learn and grow. It's the friction that one feels in the process that powers us to keep on seeking new answers and asking new questions about our own identity.

So I'll raise a glass to the Ash of old, and raise a glass to the Ash that will become. For no matter how things change. You're still an individual that I consider a friend.

Hugs!
