why i am taking economicsA Story by katMy name is kat and i am majoring in electrical engineering. I currently do not work, i am just dedicating this summer to school work. I am enrolled in principles of macroeconomics because i need it in order to complete my degree. I am aware that this course like any other course requires time and dedication in order to succeed in it. Success in anything requires sacrifice. I am ready for that challenge, whether it means getting less sleep or going over material that i find hard to grasp. I have already created a schedule and organized the amount of time i expect to spend studying. I decided to take the course online because of its convenience. I prefer not to commune too much because this is not the only course i am taking. It allows me to use the time i would be commuting to study. This shows the importance of studying economics because we use it everyday in our everyday life. It is a practical course that applies to everyone no matter what they do or study. Economics impacts our lives in everything we do. Everything decision i make has an opportunity cost. The time i decide to wake up, the time i spend studying, the type of groceries i buy and the type of stores i regularly go to, everything decision i make is a form of economics. Economics does not only impact me because of what is occurring with the economy, it starts. My long term goal is to live a life of service to God. An experience that has significantly effected is when i got a letter grade below A. I had always been particular about my grades and this skewed my view of studying. I lost my passion for learning and it all became a pursuit for grades rather than gaining knowledge. It put my life back into perspective. In order to make a difference in anything one must start with themselves. The root of the issues is in the individuals and when their issues are brought together you get national issues. I want to make a difference in the political climate towards more civil debate, i will start with myself. Being civil towards my colleagues when they discuss their views and respecting them as fellow colleagues. Understanding that people are not a collection of view points, there is much more to everyone than their view points.
