Anchor

Anchor

A Poem by Joslynn Decker

I dream of being light as air

Being strong and free

yet I’m trapped

A fish in a tank

Heavy as an anchor

Drowning in the deep blue

waiting to be lifted from my own fate

Saved before hitting the rocky bottom

rescued from my own sharp points

pulled up onto deck

Free from the monsters under the surface

Free from the shadows of the truth
