Leaves

Leaves

A Poem by Joslynn Decker

In the brisk fall air

Leaves tremble day and night

For they know they’ll need to fight

Leaves hang on tight

Stems big and strong

Their mass of colors taking charge

Yet the day comes

And leaves die

One by one

Out of sight

Leaves weak and brittle hang on tight

One last day

One last bite

Proving to be tough

Before a frail leaf joins the breeze

Yelling to the trees

I didn’t go with ease
