Please Don't Apologize

Please Don't Apologize

A Poem by 1000sleeps

When you looked at me on the rock that day,
graffiti under our backs,
our lips brushed close.
Not once, not twice,
but too many times to count.
I never thought you'd kiss me
as passionately as you did and
when our lips parted,
I could barely contain
my many feelings for you.
But, you looked me in the eyes and
apologized to me,
"I'm sorry"
you said, "I shouldn't have
let's pretend I didn't"
My heart was crushed,
my dreams torn up,
but my words came out "ok"
I played it off like it didn't hurt,
to save face for a later day.
I wanted you to want me,
like I had wanted you,
for days,
no weeks,
no months before,
you kissed me on that day.
