An Angel in the ParkA Poem by LisaAs I was walking through the park one day, I stopped to hear a little girl say, "Dear God, I want to see you today, I want you to hear me pray." My curiosity led me closer to this girl, as if we were the only two in this world. She said, "God, pray for mommy, she is ill, and let her know I love her still." I could see the tears stream down her face as she stood alone in this empty place. "Please send an Angel for my mother just like you did for my brother." When I heard what she was saying I knelt down with her as she was praying. "I promise I will be good and true, if you promise to take mommy with you." All I could do was weep and cry, then got up and dried my eyes. I said, "God has sent me from up above, He sends to you all His love." The little girl looked at me for a while then she stood up with a smile. "Are you the Angel that was promised to me, who will promise to care for my mommy?" I could see this girl was relieved she knew God sent me because she believed. "It’s time to take mommy to your brother, he says he loves you and misses his mother." As I turned and started to walk away I heard a man sobbing as he came this way. "Hi, baby. I’m sorry, mommy has died. I can’t believe it, I don’t know why." The little girl took daddy’s hand and guided the way then she looked at him in the eye to say, "Daddy, don’t cry, God promised it will be okay. Mommy will be happy, and we’ll see her again one day." © 2009 LisaReviews
