Eva noticed the black flames, even the bushes and the trees near the area were turned black, they didn't burn nor did they turn to ash, they just turned black. The group hurried to the scene, noticing a cabin that had been burnt out. Chapter 4: The First Encounter. "I have never ever seen something quite like this before." Said Terral as he looked around, taking some dirt in his hands which has turned black as coal. "I think I have read about this once Terral, the black flames and the black environment. Tyrin, we should make a barrier at once and investigate further." Brass turned to Tyrin as they started chanting something while they stood back to back preparing their barrier. "I'll summon a scouting wolf to look around for anything that might be important." Said Drake as he casted the same blue circle, now moving his hands in another way. Eva turned silent the moment she saw the black flames, she felt the same energy coming from the flames as from when she met Shadakai. Could it be that this was him? Eva automatically walked to the cabin with a straight face. "Eva, what are you doing? Eva?" Terral hurried his way to Eva as he grabbed her arm, Eva was looking terrified but ferocious at the same time not reacting on Terral. She shook away Terral's arm and went inside, the flames still burning in their purplish black colour. "This sensation, it's definitely him...Terral, it is not safe here." Eva turned to Terral, looking him in the eyes. "I have never seen you this terrified before Eva, I'll tell everyone to evacuate, let's go." As soon as they set foot out of the cabin, the wolf howled and came back squeeking. "Tyrin come on we have to complete this barrier!" Both Brass and Tyrin had put all of their magical energy into this barrier which struck down the area, protecting the group from harm...or was it too late? The barrier came down as the wolf got unsummoned by Drake. Eva and Terral running back to the three. "We aren't safe yet, I feel it, something is wrong guys." Eva looked very worrying at the group. "Yes...I think so too, my scouting wolf definitely saw something out there, but luckily they completed the barrier, we are safe to investigate Eva." Drake walked confidently to the black tree in front of the cabin. "No, you don't understand, we aren't safe even with this barrier up, I can still feel the energy, and it's not from the flames!" Terral laid his hand on Eva's shoulder. "We are fine Eva, do not worry, nothing can come through the Mythra Barrier, I promise." "I believe you, but I feel this energy, something is in here still, I can feel it." "Yes...I can too, Eva is right, we should be careful." Said Tyrin. "Tyrin...are you sure? I don't feel anything, and our barrier came out perfectly." "As Eva said, there is no use of a barrier if the danger is already inside." Tyrin had put on his hood. "Group, let's prepare for the worst, keep a keen eye out, scan the area." Terral had also put on his hood, followed by Brass and Drake. "Ha, look at all of you, dressing up for the occasion, but Eva, where are your manners my darling? Not putting on your hood for your old friend?" Shadakai appeared out of nowhere, sitting on the cabin. Eva fiercly looked to Shadakai, he sat there with a grin on his face. He still had the suit on, his dark purplish eyes just looking from under his grey hair. "S-Shadakai, it is you! What are you doing here, why did you do this?" Eva was trying to not give in to her fear of Shadakai, she didn't want to tremble in his sight. "I see you are afraid child, don't try to hide it from me. And this? It was just for fun, and I might just have done it to attract you guys here." He smirked, looking down onto Drake who was standing at the tree. "So you are Shadakai? The one who attacked the High Councellor, I will see you in chains for that!" Drake lunged at Shadakai, in the moment Drake sprinted towards Shadakai he had conjured an armblade, ready to slice. "Mh, Silly boy." Just as Drake swung his armblade, Shadakai dodged it like nothing, putting one of his hands on Drake's back, blasting him down on the ground face-front with a dark force. "No, Drake!" Eva wanted to run to Drake but Brass held her arm, she shook her head. "Eva be careful, Drake is strong, he is alive, we need to focus on Shadakai." Terral had conjured himself some stone fists to wear. "Shadakai, you have no right to bring destruction to harmless people." "Hah! Harmless you say? The people who were alive in there just some minutes ago were practicing Necromagic. I struck them down just for fun, but maybe I also stole their knowledge and magical energy." Shadakai stood near the unconscious body of Drake, smirking. "I could very well kill this summoner here and make him come back to life instantly with the knowledge I've gained." "N-Necromagic?" Stuttered Brass. "Isn't that one of the forbidden rare magic types? Wasn't it extinct aswell?" "Yes it is girl, you are quite the informed being. Now please, uncast this barrier and I'll be on my way, I have more important business to attend to." Shadakai was stroking his tie, poking the body of Drake. "I can simply kill all of you at once in here now aswell if you'd like, but I feel generous today." "We should probably do what he says guys, he just knocked out Drake like that." Terral looked at Eva. "No...I can't let this opportunity go to waste, I trained hard and with you guys by my side I think we can defeat him." Eva's eyes were locked onto Shadakai, her body was flowing with magic energy as her arms and legs were pulsating with light. "Mh, I can see you gained power, and most importantly confidence young Eva, but I'd really rather not kill you right now, it is not the time to do that." Shadakai walked to the black tree, touching it, it turned to ash as soon as he made contact with it. "Tyrin, let's undo this barrier, we can't afford to get ourselves hurt." Brass looked at Tyrin, Tyrin was also looking fiercly at Shadakai. "No Brass...I'm with Eva, we can get this criminal, undo the barrier yourself." Tyrin walked forward to Eva, taking her to the front lines standing just a few meters away from Shadakai. "Tyrin the Male Mytrha Barrier Mage, you are quite brave, but your braveness will be your undoing, I really don't have time for this so I suppose I have to do it the hard way." Shadakai charged up a small black sphere between his hands, he fired it up into the air, crushing the barrier easily. It shattered down like rain. "If you want to fight so bad, fight my Acolyte, now good day young wizards." As Shadakai disappeared a woman stood up from the ashes. She was wearing black robes and had long black hair with dull brown eyes. "I am Shadakai's Acolyte Nessa, his order was to hurt you all to interfere with my Master, so this is my task I have to accomplish, it is nothing personal." Nessa got into her fighting stance, reddish flows of energy were erupting around her feet. Terral stepped forward aswell. "Tyrin, go take drake and take him to Mr Gettica, Eva and I will handle this." He whispered. "We will distract Nessa for you two to take him and go." Tyrin nodded, Brass also heard it and agreed. "Oh you can have the little summoner over there, take him, I'm just interested in Lady Light over there, my Master is very interested in you and I want to see why." Nessa was staring at Eva, if looks could kill, Eva would be stone-dead right now. "We got this Eva, just keep the emotion in mind you felt a little while ago when seeing Shadakai." Terral pumping his fists together, getting in the fighting stance, which erupted stone flying rocks around him. "I know Terral, and she has the same kind of vile energy I felt on Shadakai." Eva was already charged up, she ran lightning fast to Nessa, striking Nessa with her Light imbued fist. Nessa couldn't even react because Eva was that fast, she hit the ground, waves of light sparking on her body. "So...quick...I can see why Shadakai has taken an interest in you Lady Light." Nessa reaching for the light sparks as she stood up, it looked like she just drew them away with her hand. "But play time is over." As soon as Nessa stood up she fired, as what looked like red lightning, to Eva, hitting her directly on her hands. "No Eva!" Terral fired the rocks at Nessa, which she evaded quite easily, Terral ran to Eva, looking at her hands. "Your hands...they are badly hurt, are you alright?" "Such cute couple you two are, instead of worrying about her, come fight me you rockthrower." Nessa grinned. "I'm alright." Eva whispered. Her Light soothed her hands, the wounds healed, but they were still disabled. Terral smiled as he turned to Nessa and ran to her, Nessa sprinted to him aswell. Both Terral and Nessa had imbued their fists with Rock and Red Lightning, they clashed and a shockwave formed from the collision of their meeting fists. As they both flew a little backwards they were also a little stunned by the shockwave, disabling both of their magic, as this is the penalty for hitting two magics straight onto eachother. As soon as they got stunned by the shockwave, Eva sprinted as fast as she could to Nessa. "W-what!? Weren't your hands disabled!?" Stuttered Nessa as she tried to recharge her magic in time. "They are, but my legs are fine, you are done for Nessa." Eva's feet were imbued with Light, she kept moving swiftly around Nessa, striking her with her feet. Lashes of Light were slashing everywhere around Nessa, she tried to block them with her arms. "H-how can you be so fast!? Mercy Please!" Eva then gave one last hit with the heel of her foot which brought Nessa down on the ground. "My magic is back, stand aside Eva." Terral brought his hands together while Eva walked towards him. He had casted rocks around Nessa, immobilizing her. At that exact moment Mr Gettica came to the scene. "Are you guys alright? And who is this?" Mr Gettica sitting on one knee, looking at Nessa. "Get out of my face College Rat." Hissed Nessa. "Oh but this is not a nice introduction, I am Mr Gettica, and you'll come with us for assaulting our students and disrupting this field trip." Mr Gettica chained Nessa's wrists together, taking her away. "You have certainly improved Eva." Terral was holding Eva's hands, which were still disabled. "Thank you Terral, I couldn't do it without you though, that was one impressive collision." She smiled. "It was nothing, let's get back to base camp and rest." Eva Nodded. As Terral and Eva arrived at Base Camp, Mr Gettica had left the camp to bring Nessa back to the College grounds and Drake had come to his consciousness, sitting with Tyrin and Brass. The other students were back aswell, listening to the stories of Drake and Brass, as of course Tyrin didn't say much. Terral went to sit with them while Eva headed to her tent. "A cute couple she said...Me? and Terral? Nah..." Eva was looking at the tentpole, because sadly, in the tents they were staying there were no ceilings. Eva looked down to her necklace, stroking the carvings. "That Shadakai..his magical energy is off the charts, I think I went over my head trying to fight him." She sighed. "But what did he mean with 'I'd really rather not kill you right now, it is not the time to do that.' How does he mean not the time to do that? Is he just toying with us? Or is there something more important going on...ugh. My head hurts...I don't understand any of this." Eva blew out the hanging candlelight as she soon closed her eyes and slept in, awaiting the next day to come. The night was quiet in the mountains, Mr Gettica came back deep in the night and prepared the lesson for tomorrow, the field trip wasn't over yet. There was still much more to discover and learn.
