Bulwark to My HeartA Poem by Kristin BrecoeBangs let loose, And scatter across my face, Shielding the emotions I hide from him.
He leans over, His fingers graze my skin, Gently placing bangs behind my ears, Claiming he can't see my beauty.
I look at him, Incredulously, My beauty? I question.
Yes your beauty, Your smile, The one that melts my heart, An innocent distraction.
Yes your beauty, Your eyes, Hazel against the summer sun, A light I bask in.
Yes your beauty, Your figure, Perfect in every way, The one I need to hold.
But most importantly, Your soul That keeps me smiling, Even when I'm angry.
Our eyes lock, And a slight smile forms, As my eyes feel as if Tear will fall.
He doesn't see it, Does he? He doesn't see it, The doubt.
The constant doubts, That we will last, That we can be one, That I love him...
Do I love him, I don't know Because I've been through it once, And I can't quite bare it again.
A barrier build, Only thin, But sturdy, Yet the same.
He's climbing that wall, But there are guards He will cross, Maybe allowing him entrance.
But I've lost Two loves too soon, And to fully open again, And then lose once more...
I wouldn't make it...
