January 4, 1936: Kiddies in the KitchenA Chapter by Kristin BrecoeMary sits in the kitchen with the children she is the governess for.
Dear Diary, It's been a couple of days since I last wrote. I took advantage of every free moment just to relax on my bed or some chair in one of the rooms. Right now Roshan and Shadi devour their breakfast like hungry mountain lions. The four-year-old twins claim they have not eaten in months. They were oh so very famished that they were about to nibble on my sweet skin. I feigned fear as I placed their plates and cups on the table, and begged for mercy. Once they decided I wouldn't taste too delightful anyway, they let me go. The two angels are such a delight, it makes me tear that I have to leave them so soon. They'll be almost as heartbroken as I am when I leave in a couple of months. I've taken role as their second mother and governess for the past year. I'll miss their honey tinted eyes that sparkle under the too-hot-to-bare sun, and their innocent smiles when they fall into mischievous matters. Shoot. They're feeding the dog again. I have to stop writing for now.
