Fluorescent EyesA Poem by Kristin BrecoeShe sits and watches someone she loves dearly, and wishes they could talk like they used to.
Crystal blue pools glisten Against fluorescent lights, As I watch his lips move silently, Speaking words I try hard to grasp.
For a month now His freedom of speech Has been stripped away, In hopes of improvement.
Whether he's telling me he loves me, Misses me, Or asks the time, I just can't understand him.
But I can understand the look He expresses in his eyes, As he tries to get Something important across.
His tired blue eyes Burn through mine, Melting all the strength I barely have left.
Pain, love, and fear Suffocate the earnest light His adoring eyes once held, As he watches me watch him.
