Welcome Back, Babycakes

Welcome Back, Babycakes

A Poem by .mate.feed.kill.repeat.

My fingers bounce off the keys
slowly gaining speed
as I think over the low rumble
of conversation in the classroom.

I don’t know where my thoughts
are going to take me,
but they’ll wisk me away
on some new adventure when I allow them.

My poetry hasn’t worked
for me much
as of late,
but today is the day.

It is returning to my mind
as my fingers tap
and my teeth start to grind;
my poetry is filling my thoughts.

It’s building a Hurrican Katrina-
like force in my head;
the levees are going
to break soon.

Welcome back,
babycakes.
Where ya been?
