If I...

If I...

A Poem by Alana Zombie
"

Thinking about how it would be if I were better.

"

If I had motivation

I’d run my way to your house

I’d knock down your door

And steal you away

We’d hit the road to California

It’s where you want to go

The sun would shine down

Upon our withered faces

And we’d be whole

If I had motivation

If I had endless courage

I’d call you up right now

And tell you that I need you

You’d tell me the same

We’d talk it out for hours

Mending our lost hopes with love

And you’d know who I am

More than you do today

Then we’d do it all again

If I had endless courage

If I had a gleaming smile

I’d shoot it at you every day

You’d feel the warmth it brings

And you’d kiss me in the midst

We’d walk along the river

The water, seeping through our veins

I’d calm another smile

Maybe one to touch the ages

You’d love how my face shines

If I had a gleaming smile

If I had a voice to sooth

I’d use it on your aching soul

When I see that you are down

And you’d be lifted up

Undoing all your anger

Lifting up the load

That weakens your epistle

There’d be happiness eternal

And the moon would droop to sleep

If I had a voice to sooth

If I bared all these things

That seems to make or break

A motive for the books

And a courageous, raging heart

A comforting, soft smile

And a tone of voice that sooths

Maybe you’d see me as fake

And forget just why you love me

You’d leave me in the dust

If I bared all these things
