My Lullaby

My Lullaby

A Poem by ~ Czarina Iris ~

A shrill scream

A terrified yell

A symphony of barks

A cry in defense

A shriek, a threat

Jingling keys, the door slams shut

A car drives off

A young child cries

For his mother to return

And in my bed

I lay and cry

To the sounds of

My lullaby...

I don't know if I like it yet, but it kind of fits with the events that have been unfolding here to a certain degree.

Departure and its cousin, unwanted solitude. You've distilled the emotions nicely...brought them all down to their true force.

Nice work...

You can dislike all you want but I love it. The last line brings the entire thing to a complete close. a strong ending for a strong poem. Amazing.
