Macbeth: Sleepwalking SceneA Screenplay by ~ Czarina Iris ~What sinister magic is this that does paint the walls with crimson rain?[Enter Macbeth quivering, clutching invisible dagger]
Macbeth Blood. I am bathed in blood from crown to toe. [Pause] Wilt though not leave me in peace?!
[Enter Messenger]
Messenger My Lord?
[Exis Messenger hurriedly]
Macbeth Mine temptest tossed mind, rid me of my madness! Prithee, let me drop this bloody instrument and with my guilt may it plummet to the deepest depths of Neptune's ocean. I am a mere vessel seiged by mine own vaulting ambition. Release me! And upon my release, may nature's great second course overtake mine eyes.
[Knocking]
Macbeth Who's there?
[Enter ghost of Duncan]
Macbeth Wherefore art though here? [Pause] They blood is cold, thy heart still and yet you stand before me as the witches who unto me delivered the word of your demise. Speak you ever present shadow of my guilt. Speak!
[Silence]
Macbeth Silence. [Pause] Why do ye not speak? Why haunt my ever restless nights when I am but a victim of mine own murderous deeds? Tell me! For what purpose hast thou been brough?
[Silence]
Macbeth My Lord...
[Exit ghost of Duncan]
Macbeth I pray you, speak!
[Pause]
Macbeth Was it all but a figment of mine own mind? No, tis not possible... Hark! What sinister magic is this that does paint the walls with crimson rain?
[Enter ghost of Banquo] [Macbeth recoils in fear]
Macbeth Why? Under who's orders hast though returned?
[Pause]
Macbeth Dearest Cousin, I beseech thee. Leave me be! Leave me to wallow in mine own guilt! Let all the quivering lights above be given the knowldge of my foul deeds! Fate - the all knowing equivocator - unbend mine eyes! May they not glimpse the corpse of my valiant Cousin!
[Pause]
Macbeth Leave me foul beast!
[Exit ghost of Banquo] [Macbeth fall to his knees]
[Pause]
[Enter Doctor]
Doctor Your Highness?
[Pause]
Doctor God, forgive us all...
