Is This home?

Is This home?

A Poem by ~ Czarina Iris ~
"

It started out in Social Studies when my cuzzy asked me to read her poem My Sickness Called Death, and from there I was inspired to write.

"

Flesh meets flesh

I yelp in pain

My face burns red

I twist in vain

My wrist is sore

My face is hot

I want to run

but I cannot

It comes again

Flesh meets my face

My tears are hot

I stay in place

"You stupid child!"

I hear him scream

Be brave I say

It's just a dream

The beatings come

They refuse to yield

At last I fall

He broke my shield

Darkness falls

The light has fled

'You stupid child'

Was all he said

In bed I lie

My body hurt

I feel broken

I feel like dirt

Is this home?

I'm afraid so

But what's a home?

I'll never know...

I'm sry to anyone if this brings bacjk any memories, but it brings them back for me too. In some ways I wish he had hit me, because, at least then, he would have acknowledged me...

This poem is really sad. Children getting beaten is really terrible. This also reminds me of Johnny from the Outsiders. His parents only acknowledged him when they were hitting him. I don't like when children get hurt. It brings up the subject of child abuse. The poem is strong though. I really think you did a great job on this write. I loved the emotions and the message within this too...since their is a message for that to stop. Very good write. Thanks for sharing.

This is a sad poem, I really hate abuse, and it saddens me that you weren't acknowledged. My kids and grandkids are very precious too me. And so is your friendship.

OH WOW! This poem left me with an unlatched jaw. It is undeniably amazing. Everything about it is perfect.

This experience hurts so much. Much more than broken bones. And this poem expresses it flawlessly.

Amazing job! 10/10
