A poem about appearance

"

I Am A Reflection

Look at me as you pass the mirror
Gaze upon me as you approach water
Hold yourself in fear
I’m exactly like you
But I’m also nothing near

You have feelings, thoughts, imagination
I’m the result of your parents intoxication
I stand alone but also with friends
The emotion I show is yours to depend

You draw on us,
you shave our face
You dress us up
But feelings you can’t replace

Tortured by your appearance
Another mirror smashed
Leaving me in pieces
And your wrist is slashed

Dysmorphia
your obsession
Face blurring
body changing
now for our lesson

You see me change
Yet I remain the same
You feel ugly
I emit your pain
Carve away your face
I mirror your every move
You worry too much
about appearance
What are you trying to prove

A joy to read. You are a true word-smith, sir. The mirrors in the hall and bathroom say hi!

Great job as always. You have a great talent for writing about sensitive subjects and pinning them accurately while creating a rythme and flow that makes it so easy to read.

When it comes to reading your poems there is always something so delicate about them. You write with such flare and passion, it really helps keep the reader pinned to the very end. You have a lovely writing style that many fellow writers would be more than happy to watch being developed further. Thank you for sharing

The mirror reflects our broken soul from within. The feelings of anxiety can bring Dysmorphia to light. I use to wonder what it meant when someone said beauty is in the eye of the beholder but now I don't. Our physical looks are affected by how we feel about our self, our emotions, or thoughts all play a part. This person is the story is broken inside and it shows in the mirror. Great writing of depth and understanding of where beauty comes from.
