Another tale of Benny Tinkerbell

Dive In To The Purple Water

Luck is gracious to people and makes your wallet swell
but very unlike the others is Benny Tinkerbell

A phone call excites this unlucky lad
He is going for a swim and asks for a lift of his dad
“after the cat incident Benny you can bike!”
An answer Benny defiantly didn’t like
But he grabbed a fresh towel
 and reached for his shorts
Not noticing the waist string was missing
Now he has no supports

Biking to the pool arriving at last
Sweating and tired his breath his does gasp
He changes into shorts and notices the waistband
Shudders his shoulders and holds them up with his hand

“Lets dive in from the high board”
This really does excite
And not thinking about the shorts
Benny is thrilled by the height

Climbing the ladders to the highest board
His friend in front jumps and welcomed by applaud
Now it’s his turn he takes a big leap
Then into the water but his shorts he did not keep

They followed him down landing on top of the pool
But not noticing his nudeness he wants to look cool
So swimming underwater he wants to reach the end
Then stand to ovation to an applaud louder then his friend

He reaches the shallow side this must be enough
But when he rises not only his friends
see him standing in the buff

Mother and children swimming lessons just about to begin
And the eyes of all the children are staring at him
His sheer embarrassment causes stressful incontinence
Now wishing he didn’t have his sudden predominance
A yellow stream travels into the water
Circling the closest child
 the mayors daughter

But more to his surprise the water began to change
Could this myth be true the pool turns a purple
And the current does change and begins to burble

Mothers disgusted he plans to tell lies
But as he looks into the crowd his mother locks eyes
Little sister is laughing and pointing with glee
And poor Benny Tinkerbell can only think why me?

This was really enjoyable to read. I haven't read your previous poems about Benny but I am sure to go read them right now! Very comical and capturing of a true boy. Always going for more and never thinking things all the way through. Poor Benny! Very amusing, captivating write. I love your poetry.

I think you should try writing childreens poems and have someone illustrate the pages for you with drawings that go with what is being said..You seem to have a gift for this type of prose..LOL and God bless..Kathie

Hahahaha!:) Wonderful! Hilarious! Simply perfect! I kind of had an idea of what was going to happen to poor Benny so I was laughing ahead of time, but the way you explained was better than I had imagined it. Standing all proud at the other end of the pool...but in the absolute nude.:) Then his mother and sister! Hahaha!:) At the close to this piece I was roaring. Even his name is richly classic. Oh, poor Benny Tinkerbell.:)
