![]() Early Morning CallsA Poem by {A}shley {B}lack @-;-![]() A poem Based on those calls that wake us during the night![]() Early Morning Calls Away in a world of dreams Nothing to trouble me No nightmarish screams Then a tone awakens me from my slumber Brrrrring brrrrrring brrrrring brrrrrring Gaze down drowsily Withheld number Thought provoking A call at such an hour Reasons for this begin to tower Drunken escapades Thinking its fun to call Needing to borrow some money Bail for a late brawl Then the mind darkens its slow undoing Thinking of the worst Your front seat at the viewing Calls from a hospital Someone has passed Friends are in trouble This time it’s the last Answering the phone Unable to totally comprehend But needed to be a voice To help out this friend Voice of reason Agreeing and offering advice Voice of anger You have woken me expecting to be nice Voice of judgement You don’t deserve to be treated that way Voice of praise I’m so proud of you now get some sleep ok Calls that awaken us during the night Sometimes welcomed Sometimes aggravate Unwilling to wait until light Its our choice to answer But if your ever alone Think of yourself in need of help And nobody answers their phone © 2011 {A}shley {B}lack @-;-Author's Note
