Metrosexual (And What)

Metrosexual (And What)

A Poem by {A}shley {B}lack @-;-
"

A poem about the growing number of men who care about their appearance

"
Metrosexual (And What!)
I may take more time than you
in a mirror
while I fix my hair
I may give you advice
on the make up that you wear
I care about my branding
and the colours that are cute
I have to match
all my shoes and the occasional boot
for I am a Metrosexual
my appearance is my life
but gentlemen please stay clear
my suited partner will be a wife
Manicures and stubble trimmed
skinny jeans and scarves
a little bit of guy liner
perfect appearance is my task
I may look camp to you
and what!
is all I have to say
I don’t seek your approval
now leave me to my day

A poem for any metrosexual man

I understand the term (and what!) isn't widely known so below is a link to the meaning

Sounds pretty much right on track. I find the whole metrosexual man thing quite interesting. I also find it a pain to have to take so much time making sure to be "presentable." I wouldn't think men wouldn't want to jump into that rat race. Kind of a commentary on the shallowness of society, I think. Then again, it could have to do with the loss of individuality and definition that's being promoted in general and an attempt to maintain one's self by having their own "look." Well written and thought provoking piece.

Great job - tight expression and celebration of individuality.

Hahaha this really really brilliant, I don't mind guys who wear eyeliner and look after themselves. Actually guys who wear eyeliner are attractive, to me, anyway... LOL

100/100 awesome!!

haha!great work, especially the clarification of our man's sexuality. Personally i dont have a problem with men who pay such strict attention to their appearance. Or women, for that matter - the world has placed so much emphasis on the physical, that such measures are perhaps necessary.
But not for me.
:)
i love the sheer diversity of the topics you write on. I prefer these to your darker writings, but appreciate all of them. Thanks for sharing!

The most impressive thing about your poems is the subject's diversity, you can write about anything and everything and you do it very neatly, I completely agree with the message that one shouldn't spend too much time working on his looks to impress people, be yourself and then for sure somebody will like you for who you really are, well-done Ashley :)) Thanks for sharing.

Nice write. its a interesting insight into
The lifestyle of the meterosexual
I quite don't agree with that lifestyle, but everyone
Is their own person and that's all that matters.

Great poem about not caring what other people think! This is like a "be yourself" kind of poem and I really enjoyed it! I love all the images, they are great! Fantastic job as usual!
