Seconds Slipping Away

A poem about holding on to a long distance relationship

Seconds Slipping Away

I should have saved those moments whilst holding you in bed
I didn’t think we would come to the decision
 which remains unsaid
I know what you have to do, I know its not the right time
falling head over heels for you is my only crime

Proud to be beside you and hold you in my arms
our love was once a roaring ocean
now it barely creates a wave as it slowly calms

Listening to repeated songs which remind me of you
I should have treasured the time we had
now you so far from view

I said those three words again, I opened up my heart
I want to spend more time with you but it hurts being so apart
Don’t give up on us as seconds slip away
when you have happiness treasure every single day

I fear its coming to an end when it’s only just begun
I cant just give up on us though
I fear you are the one

So fight for our relationship I will be there when I can
think of the future we could have together
I know it’s too soon to plan

I’m reaching out to you now
As the seconds pass
slipping into unknown territory
I hope our love it lasts

Beautiful and sad. My heart goes out to anyone experiencing any sort of rough patches within their relationships. It makes one wonder though, whats worse- being near the one you love, seeing their face and being forced to see the problems head on, OR being distant from the one you love, not being able to see their face, and not knowing the extent of the wedge that the distance is placing further and further into the problems already present. An amazing write.

I believe relationships usually have enough issues to deal with rather than long distance, this poem described well the problems.
You expressed the longing and affection very beautifully
well-done

Long distance relationships are really hard, but this was a good sum up of the problems they can present.

A different style of happiness emits from this one. Longing and love of one who is in the distance.

This had me 'awww'ing from the start. It's such a tender poem to express a tender emotion.

Very tenderly expressed... the poem shares the feeling of distance and longing with us very effectively.
