Iodine, Dear Friend

Iodine, Dear Friend

A poem About Self Harm

"
Iodine ,Dear Friend

That oh so familiar smell that initial little sting
cloaking up the ruby droplets which seep out of my skin

drawing my friend razor from his hiding place
another surgical incision the relief a welcomed grace
trickling onto pre arranged covers the deep crimson line in sight
touching the cloth this deep colour expands and soon turns light

Gazing upon reflection from this unforgotten friend
reaching for the iodine so the incision can soon mend

another scar to bare another tear in the skin
but the release of such emotion I couldn’t bare to hold within

an expressive piece - emotions of pain - strong imagery reflecting the pain - "another scar to bare another tear in the skin" - well written!
