Where Does Death Take Ya?

Where Does Death Take Ya?

A Poem by {K}
"

An African Americanv mother who lives in AL in the mid fifties telling her son about where death takes us.

"

"Mama, where does Death take ya?"

Said son to mother,

mother holding child, the son's other brother,

"I don't know, chile, I simpleh don't know,

it depends on whatcha do when you all grown."

The son thought, smiled and said.

"I'm gonna go to heaven, when I'm dead."

The mother sighed,

and simply replied,

"Death will chose, my dear chile.

Death takes us to places unknown,

so, be good when you are grown.

Be kind, and sweet,

be light on your feet,

be humble, be true,

just remember, even when you dead, I still

love you."
