The Red Hightops Lola Stefen Wore

The Red Hightops Lola Stefen Wore

A Poem by {K}
"

Have you been to Oz?

"

The red hightops Lola Stefen wore

were priceless, to Lola.

They were given to her by

her father.

Before he disappeared.

He always had been a

coward,

pretending to be a lion,

Her mother said.

Lola's  mother was

never

here for her

in the first place.

Ever.

She was like the

Tin Man,

frozen in time.

Lola loved the

bright

red of her hightops,

like the

gleaming ruby slippers.

She was Dorothy,

without Toto.

Lola believed if she clicked her heels three times,

she'd go home.

But, where was home?
