When You're not homeA Poem by {A}shley {B}lack @-;-A poem About BurglaryWhen You're Not Home I observe your daily routine, Calculate when your out I write down every hour of absence So in my head there is no doubt, I will take your prized possessions your sentimental gifts, I will make you feel unsafe through all your treasures I will sift, Picking the right time of day no possibility of return, I watched where you hide the spare key under the stone hidden in the fern, My entry was easy and now for the hunt two antique swords worth quite a bit although they are quite blunt, Some silverware and a games console all added to my bag with ease now to the jewellery box, the gistening jewels surely please. Captavated by a brotch that I have admired for years Hear the door open from down below ignite my worst fears. Heart begins to beat so fast I didn't expect you home even if I am her brother burglury she won't condone I lift the window as I hear her voice "The police are on there way" could she possibly hear me? why else would she say? she clambers the stairs no doubt with a weapon to check out her room I wish she hadn't entered which will now serve as a temporary tomb. She's reaching into the bag of treasure that conveniently I have placed I run to push my sister down not noticing the sword in her embrace, It penetrates the both of us I misjudged my own strength She slightly turns to see her attacker and stares into my eyes at length A simple word escapes her lips before her final sleep "Why?" And the answer before we part is simple "I'm A thief" © 2011 {A}shley {B}lack @-;-Author's Note
