A poem for my brother

"
Lewis

He stands there an idol to this younger kin
wishing one day he would be much like him
protector, a fighter, a respectful soul
earning his respect is my one true goal
going through hardships and fighting with swords
trying his hardest collecting few rewards
drugs become an influence school time the bottom of the list
his once angry nature will never be missed

bigger but little our height and age sway
missing not seeing him nearly every day
why doesn’t he realise he has so much potential
drawing is a skill not painting for rental
follow your dreams don’t just settle for broke
your worth so much to me this is no joke

Remember the laughter even when times were hard
we stick together although we stay SCARRED
moving was an option that you truly agreed
you always were there for me so my conscious was freed

proud that your working, proud you have changed,
proud we are so close now even if estranged
I will always look up to you no matter our height
I forget all the times that we ever did fight

your not just my idol you’re my friend I say it loud
for you are my brother and I will remain forever proud

It's a personal poem but everyone can relate to it. Good work.

Elegant, eloquent insight into the widely-shared sibling scenario. Another master-class expression of emotions felt by millions of us. Keep it coming...

You have shed so much love on your darkness. Your family is so beautiful.

I really loved this. I think that even though this was a personal poem, a lot of people can relate to it. We often look up to our siblings, no matter how old or tall they are. We are always proud of them and want them to be proud of us. I really think you captured the relationship well. This was a wonderful poem Ashley! Great job!
