Greatest Farce on EarthA Poem by sivanI’m okay - two words, purposefully misleading- Were she a braver coward to watch herself bleeding? She took your trust ordinarily as an appreciation token, I’m okay " two words, untruthfully spoken. She clenched her fists tighter as you momentarily glanced away, Bit her tongue, held it from what it wanted to say. She dug her nails into innocent thighs, Did you not study hard enough the corners of her eyes? A forming tear: prematurely ejected, A nervous smile housing a twitch undetected. Did you not see the blood racing up through her veins? Could you not hear her heart pounding as she said it again? Just a little lie; a calculated deceit, Perhaps now I’ve told you you’ll recall her silent retreat. As the veil fell, exposing a tremoring eye, A crack in a smile, lines of tears gone dry. There’s always more to a story than what you already know, But the answers aren’t lined up for you in a neat row. They will not be given willingly on a golden platter, Don’t expect the whole truth when you ask what’s the matter. I’m okay " two words, a forced reassurance. Convincing everyone but herself or her own endurance. And if you had looked, looked and actually seen In that split second, the rips in the seam Of a dress too large for her small frame to fit, Would you have just let it be? Or would you have altered it? © 2011 sivanReviews
