Somewhere Inbetween Nowhere and Nothing

Somewhere Inbetween Nowhere and Nothing

A Poem by sivan

For all that effort amounts to nothing

and all or nothing is what I need

and you can ask me for space

and I can beg you not to leave

For breathing seems to be a chore

and sleeping harder yet

I could walk the world for you

and find my heart still set

On quiet nights together

too many times to say

On silent conversations

at the end of a long day

It feels like just yesterday you shared

a penny for your thoughts

and i listened

and i cared

And I shared with you my wisdom

and some humour for your smile

And we walked a few steps

and then we said we'd walk the mile

So hand in hand we set forth

and braved the stormy weather

A cliche of note;

we cliched it up together

And somehow you took from me

the weight I'd held so long

And somehow I took from you

a feeling felt so strong

And somewhere in between

the talking and the dancing

I fell before your feet

into your sweet romancing

And somewhere along the line

you held my heart beside your own

Then somewhere, out of nowhere

you turned my heart to stone
