HeightsA Poem by EVERYTHINGyoucantelltoSTRANGERSoh, just to watch you fall...asphalt stretches like the horizon on either side of sanity pulling apart the trees the sidewalks and the people from the grates and their metalwork I want to run as fast as I can around and around the block without falling down the stairs of course I’ll stumble anyways but it never hurts to try it aches to try my fingers are frostbitten for lack of gloves and the rest of my body is conversely aflame heated from emotion and words and dandelions wished and dreamt upon like the weeds they are my eyes graze the floor and stay there lingering over the common thread of cracks and lines and colors shoes hardly entering my peripheral pretending is so much more my style I laugh I revel I even carry on into the night I cry a thousand black tears in the rain so no one can see how much this hurts me inside but tomorrow I’ll come back and play because you have no idea that I’m there the anonymity finally good for something if all contrivances fail and the open sign’s not so neon for future reference I'm beautiful inside
